Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Salary: NJC Grade 7, Scale Points 26 to 30 (£38,510-£42,123 pro rata)

Hours: 35 hours, Term Time Plus 3 weeks (minimum of 47.15 paid weeks)

Contract type: Full Time Permanent

Preferred Start Date: 1 September 2026

Reporting to: Headteachers

Responsible for: Safeguarding practice across all staff. They would be the lead DSL and member of the Senior Leadership Team. The Headteachers are  Deputy DSLs and there is a wider Safeguarding Team made up of DSL, DDSLs, SENDCO and Attendance and Family Lead. 

The Governors of the CLIC Trust and Chorlton Park wish to appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our Safeguarding team. Chorlton Park is a vibrant inner-city school that is part of the CLIC Co-operative Trust with six other primary schools. As DSL you will:

  • Lead on all safeguarding and Child Protection and act as the main point of contact for all safeguarding concerns
  • Provide expert advice and support to staff on safeguarding issues.
  • Lead the development and review of safeguarding policies, ensuring compliance with the latest statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Manage referrals and maintain safeguarding records and systems, including CPOMS, with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Work closely with staff, students, parents/carers and external agencies such as social services, GMP, Early Help, CAMHS, and the Local Authority to safeguard children and promote their welfare.
  • Deliver relevant training and development for staff to build capacity and embed best practice across the school.
  • Work directly with vulnerable students to provide early intervention and pastoral support.
  • Monitor academic progress and attainment of LAC students.
  • Lead the creation, review, and quality assurance of Personal Education Plans (PEPs). 
  • Promote a strong safeguarding culture throughout the school community

 You will bring:

  • Expert knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance, with experience of leading safeguarding in a school or similar setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build trust and positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail in record-keeping and data management.
  • Resilience and calmness under pressure, managing sensitive situations with integrity and discretion.
  • A willingness to engage in ongoing professional development, including DSL refresher training and safeguarding updates.
  • A commitment to inclusion, diversity and student wellbeing

A relevant safeguarding qualification and DSL experience are desirable.

Greenhouse Before & After School Club - Playworker

Salary: NJC Grade 1, Scale Point 3, Salary £24,796 (approx £13.20 per hour)

Hours: 15 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 3.00 - 6.00pm. Term time only

Contract type: Permanent

Preferred Start Date: 1 September 2026

The governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Play worker who is committed and passionate about providing quality playcare in our before & after school club provision.

We are looking for someone who:

  • can create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children.
  • can establish good relationships with children; interact positively with children, encouraging cooperation and mutual support; monitor children’s well-being and readiness for class; provide help and support to children.
  • is able to work within the framework of the club’s and School’s policies and procedures.
  • will be committed to safeguarding the children in our care. 
  • will work flexibly as part of the larger team, assisting and supporting colleagues wherever required, in order to ensure the smooth running of the club.

2 x SEND Learning Support Assistants Level 2

Salary: NJC Grade 3, Scale Point 5-6, Salary £25,583 - £25,989

Hours: 

1 x 27.5 hours per week (fixed term until 31/08/2031, linked to the child)

1 x 20 hours per week, 4 hours per day (fixed term until 31/08/2027)

Term time only, Monday to Friday

Start Date: 1 September 2026

We are looking to appoint two energetic and engaging Learning Support Assistants to work alongside children with special educational needs.  

 We are looking for Learning Support Assistants who:

  • Are passionate about teaching and learning and believes in developing the true potential of all of our children
  • Can work with small groups of children under the supervision of the teacher including the implementation of Education and Health Care Plans and Individual Education Plans
  • Can demonstrate good understanding of meeting the needs of children with SEN
  • Can nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils
  • Have a working knowledge of how children develop and can provide modelling and scaffolding to support the child’s interactions and learning
  • Have good behaviour management skills and can implement clear boundaries and routines
  • Can develop good home/school links.
